(Children Reaching Excellence in the Arts and Academics Through Engagement)
is a comprehensive arts education model that provides sequential, standards-based lessons in music, visual art, dance, theatre and digital filmmaking to second through sixth grade students in the Fullerton School District.
Serving at-risk students in Title 1 schools, Project CREATE! incorporates in-depth and ongoing professional development for classroom teachers, who learn to implement powerful integrated art lessons via strong collaboration with expert artist/educators and curriculum experts in mathematics and reading.
Based on the hypothesis that creative instruction in and through the arts leads to increased student engagement and academic achievement, Project CREATE! incorporates a rigorous evaluation plan that will track student progress in the arts, in mathematics and in reading, over a four-year period.
